To participate in VPK, parents and families must have a VPK Certificate of Eligibility issued by the Early Learning Coalition or ELC for the current school year. Once you have a VPK Certificate of Eligibility, please email the VPK Certificate to VPK@sarasotacountyschools.net or bring it to the District Pre-K Office at 1960 Landings Blvd. Sarasota Fl, 34231. You must also register for school on the Sarasota County School District website at https://www.sarasotacountyschools.net/o/scs/page/new-registration.
Acceptance into the VPK program is limited due to space availability, so please apply now! Once enrollment has been met, families will be placed on a waitlist.

Venice High School's baseball team won the FHSAA Academic State Championship with an unweighted GPA of 3.526!! ⚾💪📚 Not only were they the best in the classroom, but they were also one of the best on the field, with a 26-4 record and being nationally during the season.


Wilkinson’s kindergarten and first-grade students recently engaged in a hands-on learning experience with Little Medical School. They explored the fundamentals of veterinary care, discovering the importance of looking after animals, particularly when they are sick or injured.

After listening to a read-aloud of the popular kids' classic, children and their parents/caregivers will participate in a series of art activities and share their work with others at the online event. Then, WEDU will create a digital gallery to share with the world! All families are welcome to participate in this interactive hour!

The Florida Department of Agriculture and Consumer Services invites Florida students between the ages of 7 and 13 to show off their cooking skills for the title of 2024 Florida Future Chef Champion.
Three finalists will compete for up to $5,000 in a Florida 529 Savings Plan at an in-person finale at the Epicurean Hotel in Tampa, Florida, this fall.

This week, the Sarasota County Schools Police Department swore in 13 officers and celebrated several notable achievements. Two officers were promoted, three received Heroic Achievement Awards, one was honored with the Lifesaving Award, one earned the Exceptional Service Award, and eight were recognized with the Meritorious Service Award. Additionally, all officers with five or more years of dedicated service were celebrated. The event concluded with the presentation of IUPA awards.

🎉 Huge congrats to the Bay Haven School of Basics Plus Rocking World Detour team for placing 3rd out of 56 teams at the Odyssey of the Mind World Finals! 🌍🏅 Competing against 700+ teams from 46 states and 10 countries, the team rocked it with their creative Rock, Paper, Scissor band performance and original song, "Stuck in an Hourglass." Proudly representing Florida, they showcased incredible teamwork, creativity, and quick thinking.
