Welcome to Brookside Middle School!

At Brookside Middle School, we are proud to be an authorized International Baccalaureate (IB) World School, offering a unique and rigorous learning experience for over 700 students and their families. As the only IB middle school in our district, our students engage in globally connected units of study designed to cultivate curiosity, critical thinking, and compassion.

Our Mission
Brookside Middle School places the child at the center of its learning activities to enable all learners to lead productive, responsible, and healthful lives. Brookside prepares students to achieve the highest learning standards by engaging high-quality staff, involved parents, and a supportive community.

Guided by this vision and mission, Brookside is committed to developing world citizens who exemplify the IB Learner Profile—students who are open-minded, principled risk-takers, and lifelong learners. Through inquiry, reflection, and meaningful communication, our students grow to care deeply about their local and global communities.

If you have a passion for marine life, our Marine Science Academy (MSA) offers an exciting, hands-on academic experience both in our state-of-the-art Marine Science Lab and out in the field—on land and at sea. The MSA team is deeply rooted in service and scientific discovery, preparing students to care for our environment through rigorous, relevant learning.

Our Talented and Gifted (TAG) program provides an accelerated pathway for advanced learners, with gifted-endorsed teachers and a focus on preparing students for challenging high school and college opportunities. Each year, TAG students visit a college campus, encouraging them to envision their academic futures.

Beyond the classroom, students at Brookside explore a wide variety of interests through our robust Encore (elective) program. Offered on an A-Day/B-Day rotation, our electives include visual arts, chorus, band, orchestra, business, Spanish, technology, robotics, TV production, and physical education. Whether you're creating art for Ringling College, composing music, or competing on our award-winning TSA and VEX Robotics teams, there’s something here for everyone.
