Families looking for a flexible, high-quality public school option are invited to explore Sarasota Virtual School (SVS), with enrollment for the 2026–2027 school year opening April 1, 2026.
As a school of choice within Sarasota County Schools, SVS offers a fully online learning experience while keeping students connected to their local district, teachers, and graduation pathway.
A Flexible Option Within a Traditional School Structure
Sarasota Virtual School provides a unique alternative to traditional classroom settings, while maintaining the expectations and accountability of a public school.
Full-time SVS students:
Follow the Sarasota County Schools academic calendar
Participate in required state testing in person at the SVS office in Sarasota
Learn through a state-approved curriculum delivered 100% online
Complete coursework on a flexible, asynchronous schedule
This structure allows students to work at their own pace while still receiving support from certified teachers and staying on track academically.
Sarasota Virtual School is not homeschooling or the same as Florida Virtual School. SVS is a public school where students remain enrolled in Sarasota County Schools, follow district standards, and earn a fully accredited Sarasota Virtual School diploma while staying part of the district.
The enrollment window for full-time SVS students runs:
Opens: April 1, 2026
Closes: August 7, 2026
Enrollment is subject to academic eligibility.
Families can expect the following process:
Complete the online application on the SVS website during the enrollment window
SVS staff review student eligibility
Eligible students and families will be contacted to schedule and attend an in-person enrollment meeting to select courses and review expectations
Complete the Sarasota County Schools registration, selecting Sarasota Virtual School as the school of enrollment.
