The Sarasota County Schools Police Department is actively recruiting dedicated and service-minded individuals to serve as School Resource Officers (SROs) across Sarasota County Schools.
School Resource Officers play a vital role in helping maintain safe, supportive learning environments while building positive relationships with students, staff, and families. Sarasota County Schools (SCS) is seeking certified law enforcement professionals who are passionate about protecting schools and serving the community.
SCS is an A-rated district committed to academic excellence, student success, and school safety. During the 2024-2025 school year, more than 95% of district-managed schools earned a grade of “A” or “B” for the second consecutive year. 10-month position with up to $55,200 salary
Initial hire salary incentives for verified prior law enforcement experience
Eligible candidates may also qualify for Florida’s $5,000 Law Enforcement Recruitment Bonus Payment Program, which provides bonus payments for qualifying law enforcement officers relocating or joining agencies in Florida.
Applicants must:
Possess Florida Law Enforcement Certification
Be at least 21 years old
Hold a valid driver’s license
Pass a background investigation
Provide proof of U.S. citizenship
Be of good moral character
Successfully perform essential law enforcement functions
