Brookside Middle School is an “A” rated school, home to over 750 students and their families. As the only Sarasota County middle school that is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School, our students engage in units of study that connect us to the world around us. The dedicated Brookside staff strives to grow world citizens who will contribute to our community through inquiry and knowledge while becoming open-minded, balanced and principled risk-takers. Brookside students will learn the skills required to communicate and reflect as they care for our world community.

Over the past few years, Brookside Middle School has been one of the highest performing schools in Sarasota County. Our staff are truly dedicated to the academic and personal success of all Brookside students. In addition to rigorous and engaging core courses, our elective courses are diverse and allow students the opportunity to explore many areas of interest! With most of our electives uniquely offered on an A-Day/B-Day schedule, students participate in the subject matter every other day throughout the entire school year. Our students may choose such electives as visual arts, chorus, band, orchestra, business, Spanish, technology, Robotics, TV production and physical education. Whether you intended to display your art at Ringling College or compete internationally with our championship TSA and VEX Robotics programs, there is something for everyone at Brookside!

At Brookside Middle, we are a World School acting locally.  We can’t wait to welcome you to our family. Go Cudas!

  • Gold for Kids with Cancer

September is Go for the Gold month to fight childhood cancer. Did you know childhood cancer is the number one disease killer of children and is the leading cause of death for children between the ages of 4 and 14 in the United States? The American Childhood Cancer Organization (ACCO) is determined to change these statistics and make childhood cancer a national health priority by shaping policy, supporting research, raising awareness, and providing educational resources and programs to children with cancer, childhood cancer survivors, and their families.

  • September is Go for the Gold

We, as an IB World School, will host an event to raise money and awareness of childhood cancer. Our school goal is to have all students walk a lap on the track during Individuals & Societies classes on Friday, September 24th. We would like to encourage the entire school community (students, teachers, staff, parents) to wear gold and/or yellow on September 24th. The IB Ambassadors will also be collecting change all week for the ACCO during our Go for the Gold Lunch Challenge.

  • 2020-2021 Resilient FLPBIS Model School

We have been recognized by the FLPBIS Project as a 2020-2021 PBIS Model School! Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide framework that, according to national research, enhances student quality of life and reduces problem behaviors. By establishing this framework, we are developing skills, making changes to the school environment, acknowledging appropriate behavior, and using data to identify supports for our students. As a PBIS Model School, we are committed to the effective implementation of PBIS and are seeking positive and equitable outcomes for all students! Go Cudas!
