Principal's Weekly Newsletter
Dear SMS families,
We look forward to seeing student and staff participation in next week's SMS Spirit Week! Please see the flier for each day's theme below and encourage your child to get into the spirit of fun!
We also want to share that our SMS Green Team will meet for its first meeting on Friday, October 31st at 8:30 AM. If your child would like to participate, please complete a permission slip attached in this newsletter. One of its first initiatives is to promote the collection of used clothing, shoes, and other textiles including scarves and gloves. These items can be ground up for playground material or converted to wiper rags.
Why choose this as our first initiative:
· Teaches students environmental responsibility through real-world action
· Reduces our school & community waste footprint
· Generates ongoing revenue to support school needs - SMS will earn $200 per ton of textile recycled!
If you would like to participate please drop off your textiles to the Green Bin which is located in our school parking lot. Encourage your neighbors to do the same!
Please also be sure to RSVP to our Veteran's commemoration if your SMS student has a family member he/she would like to honor. We would love to see you on November 11th. A flier with more information can be found in full newsletter. Link below
