The Adult Patient Care Program at Suncoast Technical College prepares students for rewarding careers in healthcare by combining rigorous academic instruction with extensive hands-on clinical experience. Designed for adult learners seeking to enter or advance in the healthcare field, the program emphasizes compassionate, competent, and safe patient care across diverse clinical settings.

Students gain foundational knowledge in anatomy and physiology, infection control, communication, and ethical practice. Coursework is paired with supervised clinical rotations that allow students to apply learned skills in real-world healthcare environments such as hospitals, long-term care facilities, and rehabilitation centers. This blend of classroom theory and practical experience ensures that graduates are well-prepared to meet the standards of professional healthcare practice.

The program aligns with the Florida Department of Education’s curriculum frameworks and meets all requirements for state certification. Upon completion, students are eligible to sit for the Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) examination, positioning them for immediate employment or further study in programs such as Practical Nursing or the Professional Nursing (LPN–RN) bridge program at STC.

Faculty members are experienced healthcare professionals dedicated to fostering a supportive, interactive learning environment that mirrors real-world patient care. Through small class sizes, individualized instruction, and state-of-the-art simulation labs, students build confidence, competence, and a strong work ethic.

The Adult Patient Care Program reflects STC’s mission to provide quality technical education that supports workforce development and community health. Graduates emerge as skilled, compassionate caregivers prepared to make meaningful contributions to the healthcare system and improve the quality of life for those they serve.
