Congratulations to Jesus Nunez, a recent Venice High School graduate and recipient of the 2023 Education Foundation of Sarasota County’s Lempe Family Resiliency Scholarship.
Jesus was awarded the Lempe Family Resiliency Scholarship on Monday, June 12, 2023, by Lt. Col. Scott Lempe and Education Foundation staff members at Suncoast Technical College (STC). Jesus will begin the next chapter of his educational journey in the Building Trades and Construction Design Technology Program in the fall. In addition to receiving the award, Jesus and his family were provided a tour of the STC campus, including a meet and greet with program instructor Nick DiLorenzo.
Lt. Col. Lempe is a retired Sarasota County School Board employee and former deputy superintendent. He has a passion for students attending technical school and for students who have persevered and had an interest in continuing their postsecondary education. After Lempe reached out to the Education Foundation to set up the scholarship, Jennifer Vigne, president and CEO of the Education Foundation, connected him to the STRIVE program, which recognizes students who have overcome tremendous challenges to succeed in life.
