Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce that Mr. Jamal Crook has been appointed as the new Principal of Booker High School. He will assume his new role effective Monday, June 1.
“I am humbled to serve as the new principal of Booker High School,” said Crook. “I am committed to fostering a culture of collaboration, inclusivity, and academic excellence for all students, teachers, and staff members. It will be an honor to build upon – and forge new – milestones with such a dynamic school community. I look forward to partnering with all community members and stakeholders to support the success and wellbeing of our students.”
Mr. Crook earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Physical Education from Murray State University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from Saint Leo University. Crook holds certifications in Biology (Grades 6-12), Educational Leadership (All Levels), Prekindergarten/Primary Education (Ages 3 – Grade 3), and School Principal (All Levels).
Prior to assuming his new role as the Principal of Booker High School, Crook had served as the Principal of Buchanan Middle School (Tampa, FL) since July 2022. He has also served as an Assistant Principal for Student Affairs at Bloomingdale High school (Valrico, FL), an Assistant Principal for Student Affairs at Ben Hill Middle School (Tampa, FL), and the Principal of NLT Academy (Seffner, FL). Crook has additionally served as an Adjunct Professor for West Liberty University (West Liberty, WV) and an Executive Leadership Coach for the Union Local School District (Belmont, OH).
