Dear Gulf Gate Families,
We are off to another fantastic week at Gulf Gate, and I have several exciting updates and reminders to share with you:
K-2 STAR/FAST Testing This week, students in grades K-2 begin STAR/FAST testing in ELA, with math testing scheduled for next week.
· Grade 2: Tuesday, Sept. 9 (ELA) & Tuesday, Sept. 16 (Math)
· Grade 1: Wednesday, Sept. 10 (ELA) & Wednesday, Sept. 17 (Math)
· Kindergarten: Thursday, Sept. 11 (ELA) & Thursday, Sept. 18 (Math)
Please help your child do their best by making sure they get a good night’s sleep and a healthy breakfast.
Spirit Night at Panera – Friday, September 12 Join us this Friday from 4–9 p.m. at Panera Bread (6589 S. Tamiami Trail). Be sure to mention Gulf Gate Elementary when you order, and a portion of the proceeds will come back to our school. Enjoy a great meal & support our Tigers!
Dental Sealant Program – September 15–25 The school-based dental sealant program will be at Gulf Gate September 15–25. Students in Pre-K through 4th grade will be eligible for sealants, and 5th graders will receive a cleaning. Consent forms were sent home; if you’d like your child to participate, please complete and return the form to your child’s teacher.
Scholastic Book Fair – Week of September 22 Our annual Scholastic Book Fair is almost here! The BEST part? Every single Gulf Gate student will receive a FREE book! To make this possible, we need your help. Please consider signing up to volunteer your time at the Book Fair. Welcome Back Dinner – Thursday, September 25 We hope you will join us for the Welcome Back Dinner on Thursday, September 25th from 6:00–7:30 p.m. It’s sure to be a wonderful time for our Gulf Gate family! Please see the attached flyer for more details.
Double Good Fundraiser Success! A HUGE thank you to all who participated in the Double Good popcorn fundraiser! With your help, Gulf Gate raised over $5,000! These funds will help us continue to provide free busing for field trips, purchase books for students, stock our PBIS ROAR Store, encourage our staff, and more. We are so grateful for your support of our Gulf Gate community.
Parent Pick-Up at Gulf Gate Church The church kindly allows us to use their property for student pick-up. However, they’ve asked us to remind families that only the church parking lot and the baseball field behind the playground are authorized parking areas. Parking anywhere else is off-limits. To keep this option available, we must honor their request—thank you for your cooperation!
PBIS Update – Celebrating Our STARR Students! At Gulf Gate, we are proud to be a PBIS school! Students earn points by demonstrating what it means to be a STARR:

· Responsible
These points can be used to “purchase” special rewards, celebrating their positive choices and efforts. Please join us in recognizing and encouraging your children as they shine as STARR students each day.
