Brookside Middle School is home to over 750 students and their families. As the only middle school that is an authorized International Baccalaureate World School, our students engage in units of study that connect us to the world around us. The dedicated Brookside staff works hard to grow world citizens that will contribute through inquiry, knowledge, and be open-minded, balanced and principled risk-takers. Brookside students will learn the skills required to communicate and reflect as they care for our world community.
If you have a passion for marine life, our Marine Science Academy (MSA) is for you! The MSA is an academic team focused on caring for our community through a rigorous course of study. MSA Students engage in hands-on learning both inside the classroom and our state-of-the-art Marine Science Lab as well as outside of the classroom on engaging field experiences both on land and sea!
The Talented and Gifted (TAG) program at Brookside provides an advanced course of study to prepare students for rigorous high school pathways to college. The TAG program consists of multiple gifted, endorsed teachers to meet the needs of advanced learners. The TAG students visit a college each year to explore options for their futures.
I am proud to say that our staff is truly dedicated to the academic and personal success of all Brookside students. In addition to rigorous and engaging core courses, our elective courses are diverse and allow students the opportunity to explore many areas of interest! With most of our electives uniquely offered on an A-Day/B-Day schedule, students participate in the subject every other day throughout the entire school year. Our students may choose such electives as visual arts, chorus, band, orchestra, business, Spanish, technology, Robotics, TV production and physical education. Whether you intend to display your art at Ringling College or compete internationally with our championship TSA and VEX Robotics programs, there is something for everyone at Brookside!
We are an IB magnet school and accept applications from families all year long.
We can’t wait to welcome you to our family. Go Cudas!

2020-2021 Resilient FLPBIS Model School
We have been recognized by the FLPBIS Project as a 2020-2021 PBIS Model School! Positive Behavior Interventions and Support (PBIS) is a school-wide framework that, according to national research, enhances student quality of life and reduces problem behaviors. By establishing this framework, we are developing skills, making changes to the school environment, acknowledging appropriate behavior, and using data to identify supports for our students. As a PBIS Model School, we are committed to the effective implementation of PBIS and are seeking positive and equitable outcomes for all students! Go Cudas!
