Why does voting matter? The League of Women Voters of Sarasota County is inviting Sarasota County Schools students in grades 6-8 to answer that question through its 2026-2027 YVote Contest.
Students can submit an essay, 2-D artwork or video responding to “Why Vote? Convince Me It Matters!” First, second and third place monetary prizes will be awarded in each grade and category.
Entries are due January 22, 2027. Contest information, applications and judging rubrics are available in English, Spanish and Russian.
