Sarasota County Schools student-athletes, coaches, and teams delivered another exceptional year of athletic and academic success during the 2025-2026 school year. Across the district, teams captured district, regional, and state championships while earning recognition for excellence both on the field and in the classroom.
District schools combined for 26 district championships across a variety of sports, including football, soccer, basketball, swimming, tennis, wrestling, track and field, baseball, softball, volleyball, golf, water polo, weightlifting, and beach volleyball. Regional championships were earned by 12 teams, while Riverview High School Girls Swimming and Sarasota High School Boys Swimming both captured state titles.
Individual student-athletes also excelled at the state level. Sarasota County Schools celebrated nine individual state champions, along with the Riverview High School Girls 200 Free Relay team, which earned a state championship in swimming.
Academic achievement remained a hallmark of Sarasota County athletics. Pine View School Boys Tennis and Venice High School Boys Track & Field earned first-place finishes in the FHSAA Academic Team Championship Series, while numerous additional teams earned Top 10 academic rankings statewide.
Several student-athletes and coaches received prestigious individual honors throughout the year. Among them were Riverview High School's Maddie Muller, named Gatorade Female Cross Country Player of the Year, and numerous Sarasota County Schools athletes recognized as Sarasota Herald-Tribune Players of the Year in their respective sports. Coaches and athletic leaders were also recognized at the state and regional levels for their leadership and contributions to student success.
The district also earned statewide recognition in the Florida High School Athletic Association rankings, with Venice High School finishing second in Class 7A, Riverview High School eighth in Class 7A, Sarasota High School fifteenth in Class 7A, Booker High School twenty-fourth in Class 4A, and North Port High School thirty-fifth in Class 7A.
