Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce that Mrs. Kelly McWilliams – currently the Assistant Principal of Glenallen Elementary School – has been appointed as the new Principal of Wilkinson School. She will assume her new role effective Monday, February 16. 

“I am thrilled to serve as the new Principal of Wilkinson School,” said McWilliams. “We are on the verge of exciting new changes through the Future Focused Strategic Initiative. I look forward to preserving the character of this special school community and growing our presence in the area as our programs phase into a K-8 model.”

 

Mrs. McWilliams earned a Bachelor’s Degree in Elementary and Special Education from the State University of New York at Plattsburgh. She also earned a Master’s Degree in Liberal Arts Education from Stony Brook University and a Master’s Degree in Educational Leadership from St. Leo University. McWilliams has a Reading Endorsement and holds certifications in Educational Leadership, Elementary Education, Exceptional Student Education (ESE) K-12, English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) K-12, and English 6-12.

 

Before assuming her current role as the Assistant Principal of Glenallen Elementary School in July 2022, McWilliams served as an Assistant Principal Intern at Alta Vista Elementary School. She also served as an Instructional Coach, a Behavior Specialist, and a Grade 4 and Grade 5 General Education teacher, all at Alta Vista Elementary School. McWilliams additionally served as an Exceptional Student Education teacher at Alta Vista Elementary School, Gocio Elementary School, Dreams are Free, and East Moriches Elementary School (East Moriches, NY).
