United Way of South Sarasota County is offering free federal income tax preparation services through its Volunteer Income Tax Assistance program from February 3 through April 15, 2026. The service is available by appointment only for individuals and families with a yearly household income of up to $74,000.
Tax preparation is completed by IRS certified volunteer tax preparers who review each filer’s information and provide guidance based on their individual situation. Appointments are required and must be scheduled in advance through the United Way of South Sarasota County website.
VITA services are available at multiple locations throughout Sarasota County, including Venice, North Port, Englewood, and Sarasota. Each site offers designated days and times for appointments.
To avoid appointment delays or rescheduling, participants must bring required documentation, including a valid government issued photo ID, Social Security cards or ITIN notices for all household members listed on the return, income forms such as W 2s and 1099s, and a completed Intake Form 13614 C. If filing jointly, both spouses must be present.
