Transition ensures experienced, proven leadership in safeguarding students and staff

Sarasota County, FL, August 13, 2025 – Sarasota County School Board Chair and District 5 representative Tim Enos announced today that he will resign from the board effective August 24, 2025, to become Chief of Police for the Sarasota County Schools Police Department (SCSPD).

Enos, a veteran school safety leader, was elected to the School Board in 2022 and selected by his colleagues as Board Chair in November 2024. He has been a strong advocate for students, educators, families, and school safety across the district. His decision follows more than 30 years in law enforcement, including 22 years of direct experience working with schools and a prior tenure as Chief of Police for the SCSPD.

“While it has been an honor to serve as a School Board member and Board Chair, my deepest passion has always been ensuring the safety of our students and staff,” Enos said. “This new role allows me to focus all my efforts on strengthening school safety and continuing the work I have dedicated much of my career to.”

Enos’s career includes service as Executive Director of the Florida Association of School Resource Officers, testimony before the Florida Legislature on school safety following the Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School tragedy, and leadership in implementing significant safety enhancements throughout Sarasota County Schools.

Superintendent Terry Connor praised Enos’s expertise and long-standing service to the district:

“I can think of no better person to lead the Sarasota County Schools Police Department,” Connor said. “Mr. Enos’s unmatched expertise in school safety, his deep knowledge of this department, and his commitment to protecting our students and staff make him the ideal choice for this critical position.”
