Sarasota County, FL, July 10, 2025 – Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce that Dr. Lashawn Frost – the current Principal of Booker Middle School – has been selected as the new Executive Director of Student Services.
“I am honored to serve as the new Executive Director of Student Services,” said Frost. "My commitment is to an approach that nurtures the whole child, empowering every student to reach their highest potential. By fostering resilience and encouraging students to take ownership of their learning across all settings, we create pathways for success. I’m excited to support our school leadership teams as we work together to meet the diverse needs of our students and families—ensuring that every child has the opportunity to thrive."
Dr. Lashawn Frost holds dual bachelor’s degrees in psychology and philosophy from Florida State University. She earned a master’s degree in counseling from Norwich University in Vermont and a second master’s degree in educational leadership from the University of South Florida. She later earned a Ph.D. in Counseling and Leadership from Cornerstone University. Dr. Frost is certified in Educational Leadership (K-12), School Principal (K-12), and School Counseling (K-12).
Before becoming Principal of Booker Middle School in 2011, Frost served as the school’s Assistant Principal from 2009 to 2011. Prior to that, she was Assistant Principal at Venice High School from 2005 to 2009. From 1998 to 2005, she worked as a Guidance Counselor for Sarasota County’s Cyesis Program, supporting pregnant and parenting teens.
