Dr. Kirk Hutchinson, Principal

Hello to our newest VES Families, and welcome to the 2023–2024 school year!

We are excited that you are joining our VES community. The Venice Elementary School staff is thrilled to work with you and our students this year. Last year our school experienced incredible levels of success, and VES is proud of our long-standing “A” rating! We know that this is a shared achievement, and we are extremely proud of the efforts of our students, faculty and staff, families, and community members who work so diligently to ensure the success of our Little Indians. YOU help make VES an amazing school!

In addition to our academic successes, we are also extremely proud of our VES students for demonstrating outstanding character on a daily basis and earning PBIS Platinum School statues for our positive behavior supports system. At VES, we recognize our Little Indians who have their “ARROW on Target”. This means that they are being an achiever, respectful, responsible, observant, and wholehearted. When our students demonstrate these essential character traits, we know they will experience incredible levels of success.

VES has a rich tradition of phenomenal family and community involvement, and we are incredibly grateful for this aspect of our school. If you are interested in becoming a VES volunteer for the 2023-2024 school year, please be sure to complete the volunteer application; it can take several days or weeks for your application to be approved. You can complete the application by visiting the Volunteer Information page on our SCS website. If you anticipate being a volunteer at VES this school year, including chaperoning any field trips, then it is important to apply for or renew your application ASAP, as preapproval is a district requirement.

Our school office will be open from 8:00 a.m. – 3:45 p.m. during the school year. Students who choose to eat breakfast at school will be able to do so as early as 8:00 a.m. All other students will be able to go to their classrooms at 8:15 a.m. The school day begins at 8:30 a.m., and any students not in their classroom by that time will be marked as tardy. Our school day ends at 3:15 p.m. It is very important that your child remains in school for the duration of the day. However, if your child does need to leave school early and is being picked up by someone that is not a parent/guardian, written permission from the residing parent is required.

Safety is our top priority at VES, so we require all visitors to our campus to sign-in at the front office and obtain a visitor’s badge. When you are on campus, we also ask that you wear your badge in a visible location. Thank you in advance for helping to ensure the safety of the students and adults at VES.

We love communicating with our families and we encourage you to follow us on Facebook, Instagram, and the SCS App for regular school updates and glimpses of the top-notch teaching and learning taking place on our campus every day.

We are thrilled to spend this year with you and your children, and we look forward to a phenomenal year filled with exciting learning and life-long memories. If we can ever be of assistance, please don’t hesitate to contact us.
