Lunchtime with Officer Roy

March 7, 2019 - I’m Steven Roy, School Resource Officer with the Sarasota County Schools Police Department. It is my honor to serve and protect the students and staff at Lamarque Elementary School in North Port.

Every day I go to work, I get to mentor the youngest of our students to ensure their safety and overall well-being. Since joining the Lamarque school community, I have made incredible friendships with my kids, all of whom I cherish and want to help grow and succeed.

At Lamarque, students work toward “King Cash” – an academic and citizenship reward program that offers prizing based on great behavior and school work. One of the prizes the students enthusiastically request is Lunch with Officer Roy. Monday through Friday, I get to spend lunchtime with a student from every grade level who has excelled in school.

I love spending time with students who teach me so much! Lunch with my kids is one of the most rewarding experiences I’ve had in my 24-year law enforcement career and I look forward to many more days filled with laughter, fist-bumps, smiles and hugs at Lamarque Elementary.
