September 26, 2021 - Automatic Suspension of Temporary Emergency Face Mask Policy

September 26, 2021

Dear families & employees,

This is an update concerning the temporary emergency face mask policy.

Based on the latest COVID-19 Community Spread percentages, the temporary emergency face mask policy is automatically suspended. Starting Monday (September 27, 2021), the face mask policy is optional. We strongly encourage everyone to continue to wear a face mask when indoors to help keep the positivity rate below 8%.

Please note that this emergency policy will be in effect until Tuesday, November 23, 2021. While this emergency policy is in effect, the requirements regarding wearing a face mask will be automatically suspended any time the positivity rate for COVID-19 within Sarasota County drops below 8% for three (3) consecutive days, as determined by the data maintained by the Florida Department of Health.

Additionally, at any time while this emergency policy is in effect but suspended, the requirements contained in the temporary emergency face mask policy will automatically reactivate and apply any time the positivity rate in Sarasota County for COVID-19 is above 10%.

We will continue to monitor the COVID-19 positivity rate and share any additional updates as soon as possible, as needed.
