District Announces Interim Principal for Southside Elementary School

SARASOTA COUNTY, June 8, 2021 – Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce that Mrs. Jamie Hannon has been selected to serve as the interim Principal of Southside Elementary School. Mrs. Hannon will start her new position on July 1, 2021.

“Mrs. Hannon, currently serving at Fruitville Elementary School, is an extraordinarily talented and highly-skilled Assistant Principal,” said Chris Renouf, executive director of Elementary Schools. “Jamie has strong organizational & creative problem-solving skills and is adept at developing a positive social-emotional school climate. These attributes blend together well with her extensive leadership experience in the areas of teaching and learning, exceptional education, and gifted instruction. Mrs. Hannon utilizes her perspective as a leader, colleague, and parent to embrace collaboration with all stakeholders in a collective effort to ensure success for all students.”

Mrs. Jamie Hannon received her bachelor’s degree in Visual Disabilities (Cum Laude) from Florida State University. She has a master’s degree in Special Education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education. Before assuming her current role as the Assistant Principal of Fruitville Elementary School in July 2015, she served as an Assistant Principal Intern at Phillippi Shores Elementary School. Mrs. Hannon has also served as an ESE Liaison at Gulf Gate Elementary School, an Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired through the school district’s Pupil Support Services department, and an Orientation and Mobility Specialist through Pupil Support Services. She has successfully completed the district’s Preparing New Principals, Introduction of New Administrators, and Leadership Academy programs.

Mrs. Hannon grew up in Sarasota and is a proud product of Sarasota County’s schools. She has been happily married to her husband, Dan, for 8 years. They have two daughters: Lucy (4) and Quinn (5), who will be starting kindergarten in the fall. Mrs. Hannon loves being outdoors with her family and cheering for her favorite team, the Cubs!
