Welcome to the Instructional Continuity for Academic Needs Plan (ICAN Plan)

March 29, 2020 -- 4:22 PM

Good afternoon families,

Please click here for a special welcome message from Mitsi Corcoran, Interim Superintendent of Sarasota County Schools.

Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce its Instructional Continuity for Academic Needs Plan (ICAN Plan). The ICAN Plan is a way for our teachers to connect with your children and provide learning opportunities, as we all transition into distance learning— at least for the foreseeable future —and possibly to finish out the 2019-20 school year. You can start exploring the ICAN Plan resources now by visiting

The ICAN Plan webpage has a wealth of information to help your family and support your child’s growth. There you’ll find a full download of the plan in PDF form, expectations for student assignments and teacher responsibilities by grade level, instructions on how to connect, and even links to additional online learning resources.

Our top priority in the development of this plan was recognizing that these are extremely stressful days for everyone. We tried to balance the need to support our children’s learning opportunities with the fact that all of us are adjusting to a “new normal” and a world with social distancing. Our teachers are excited to lead your child through this new way of learning, and they want to connect with you! Please be patient if you are called by multiple teachers in the beginning of the ICAN Plan rollout. We want you to have the latest and very best communication we can possibly bring you.

Our teachers are your link to this plan, and they want to find the optimum ways to support your child. Thank you for your support, and for partnering with Sarasota County Schools on this remarkable learning journey. Welcome back to school!
