Dr. Laurie Breslin Appointed Principal at Sarasota Middle School

SARASOTA COUNTY, April 12, 2018 – Sarasota County Schools announces the appointment of Dr. Laurie Breslin as principal at Sarasota Middle School, where she has served as interim principal since October. 

 “I am delighted to appoint Dr. Laurie Breslin to principal at Sarasota Middle School on an official basis,” noted Todd Bowden, superintendent of Sarasota County Schools. “The school community has fully embraced her in this role, and I am confident students will continue to thrive under her leadership.”

“I love serving the staff and students at Sarasota Middle School,” commented Dr. Laurie Breslin. “It is a great feeling to have the confidence of the school district and assume the role of principal on a more permanent basis. I am eager to continue to work with our teachers, school staff and Panther community to further promote the academic and personal excellence of our students.”

“Dr. Laurie Breslin has done a tremendous job as interim principal at Sarasota Middle School, and I am excited for her to serve in this capacity going forward,” said Steve Cantees, executive director of secondary schools. “Dr. Breslin brings an integrated approach to learning that will greatly benefit her students today and in the future.”

Prior to her tenure at Sarasota Middle School, Dr. Breslin was an assistant principal at Booker High School. Before joining Sarasota County Schools, Dr. Breslin served as an assistant principal at Palmetto High School from 2016 – 2017 and Manatee High School from 2010 – 2016. She is an effective leader in curriculum and instruction and has a proven track record of improving student achievement.

Dr. Breslin earned her bachelor, masters and specialist degrees from the University of Florida before completing her doctorate degree from Argosy University. She enjoys spending time with her husband, Todd Breslin, and four children, Tyler, Colin, Caden and William.
