At the end of February, I emailed to inform you about recent State legislation requiring students in grades K through 12 to receive annual instruction related to Substance Use and Abuse Prevention Education. Another part of the State requirement for overall safe behaviors for our students includes Internet Safety.
We have posted a brief, age-appropriate video on our district website that you can view with your children. We have also posted an information sheet along with the video that may be helpful as you have discussions with your children about personal safety, including Internet Safety. To find these resources, please visit www.sarasotacountyschools.net/elementarysafetyvideos.
Many of our elementary students have already viewed the brief video on Substance Use and Abuse Education just prior to Spring Break. Since some schools had planned to present the video after Spring Break, we have also posted the brief, age-appropriate Brain Pop Jr. video on our district’s website. This video will be available to view on our website through the end of May. We encourage you to view this video with your child as well.
We appreciate your partnership as we all work to keep our children safe!
