The Sarasota County Schools Finance Department Receives Awards 

We proudly announce that the Sarasota County Schools Finance Department has received several distinguished awards. The Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada (GFOA) presented a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award to the School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, for its Annual Budget for the fiscal year beginning July 01, 2022. This award is the highest form of recognition in governmental budgeting. To receive this award, a governmental unit must publish a budget document that meets program criteria as a policy document, financial plan, operations guide and communications device. The GFOA also presented an Award of Financial Reporting Achievement to the SCS Finance team. The Government Finance Officers Association presents the Award of Financial Reporting Achievement to the department or individual designated as instrumental in the government unit achieving a Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting. 

The Association of School Business Officials International (ASBO) awarded The School Board of Sarasota County, Florida, the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting (COE). ASBO International’s COE recognizes districts that have met the program’s high standards for financial reporting and transparency. SCS earned the Certificate of Excellence for the Annual Comprehensive Financial Report (ACFR) for the fiscal year ending in 2022.
