Greetings Venice High School Families,

On behalf of our faculty and staff, it is my pleasure to extend a heartfelt welcome to you for the 2020 - 2021 school year at Venice High School.  For those students and parents who are new to the Venice community, we extend an especially warm welcome and wish for you to have a positive and productive year. You will find our school to be a very safe, welcoming, and student-centered learning environment. To that end, our teachers strive to build positive and inclusive school climates and remain committed to examining best teaching practices to be more responsive and supportive of students’ academic, social, and emotional needs. Our teachers and support staff are talented, well supported, exceptionally well-prepared, and are committed to student success.

I look forward to working with you to ensure that all students have a positive experience at Venice High School. Please feel free to contact me if you have any questions or suggestions. I wish you all a wonderful summer break.

2020-2021 Upcoming Save the dates

All grade 9th grade and new to Venice students are required to attend our orientation program scheduled for August 6th in the Venice Performing Arts Center (VPAC). Schedule pickup will also be in the front lobby of the VPAC during this time. Subject to change based on CDC guidelines.

  • Students with last names A-L will attend from 9 am to 10:30 am.
  • Students with last names M-Z will attend from 11-12:30 pm.
  • The presentation will be recorded and posted to our website and social media outlets if you are unable to attend.

Summer 2020 EOC Testing Information


Summer 2020 EOC assessment testing for Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, US History and M/J Civics (Middle School)



The following students are eligible to test in the Summer EOC test window:

1. Any student who took Algebra 1 prior to the 2019-20 school year and did not take/pass the EOC assessment for either their final grade calculation or to meet their graduation requirement.

2. Any Grade 10 or Grade 11 student who completed the Algebra 1 course in the 2019-20 school year and was unable to take the EOC assessment to meet their graduation requirement due to Covid-19 cancellations.

3. Any student who has completed 80% of a virtual course in Algebra 1 or 1B, Geometry, Biology, U.S. History and/or Civics which requires an End-of-Course assessment for a final grade as long as the course isn’t completed by July 24.

4. Any student who failed an EOC or received an EOC waiver in Spring 2020, but wishes to achieve a Scholar Designation upon graduation. To qualify for a scholar diploma designation on a standard high school diploma, a student must earn a passing score on each of the following statewide assessments: Geometry, Biology, and US History.

5. Any student who wishes to earn high school credit in courses required for high school graduation through the passage of an End-of-Course assessment (CAP): Algebra 1, Geometry, Biology, and US History.



The assessments will be administered at the following locations: Riverview High School and North Port High School.

Students will be able to select their preferred test location during the registration process.



July 21, 8:00 am Algebra 1 - Students will take both sessions in one day.

(Each session lasts for a minimum of 80 minutes and a maximum of 2 ½ hours.)


July 22, 8:00 am Geometry - Students will take both sessions in one day.

(Each session lasts for a minimum of 80 minutes and a maximum of 2 ½ hours.)


Biology, US History and Civics

(Each session lasts for a minimum of 80 minutes and a maximum of 6 hours.)

We are excited to welcome all of our future Indians in the Class of 2024 to Venice High School.  To assist you in transitioning to VHS in the fall, we ask that you take the time to complete the following steps by Tuesday, May 5th.

Dear Venice High School Families,
We hope that this communication finds you and your family well in this unprecedented time of our lives. We want to take this opportunity to let you know that we are going to continue to support your students’ academic, social and emotional needs during this time. While this may look a bit differently in our new reality, we wanted to make sure that you knew how to contact your counselor during this time period.
Counselors will be available to their students and/or parents through a variety of virtual methods which are captured in detail below. All counselors have access to email and, have included a contact phone number for you.
Counselors will be available Monday through Friday from 8:00 a.m. – 3:00 p.m. Please be patient with us as we are all learning how to interact in a virtual environment. Our team will do our best to respond as quickly as possible however, our commitment is to make certain that you receive response with 24 hours to your e-mails and/or phone calls.
