District Releases 2018-19 Promotion/Retention Report
SARASOTA COUNTY, November 13, 2019 – Each year, students are either promoted to the next grade level or retained depending on their Florida Standards Assessments (FSA) score and overall academic performance. Out of the 26,335 students tested last school year, over 17,000 received a score of a 3 or higher on their FSA Reading exam. Strategies have already been implemented this school year to assist students that did not receive a satisfactory passing grade.
The following is a report on how students performed comprehensively throughout Sarasota County. Per Florida statute, school districts are required to report on the following:
- State reading achievement levels for students in grades 3-10
- The number and percentage of students retained in grades 3-10
- The number of and reasons for good-cause promotions
