Sarasota County Schools Recognizes 18 PBIS Model Schools
SARASOTA COUNTY, November 11, 2020 – Sarasota County Schools is proud to announce that 18 of its schools have been designated as Florida Positive Behavioral Interventions & Support (Florida PBIS) Model Schools for the 2019-20 school year. Schools were recognized during a special presentation at the November 10th School Board meeting.
The mission of Florida PBIS is to increase the capacity of Florida’s school districts to use team-based planning and problem solving to implement positive behavioral interventions and supports. All of our schools integrate their Positive Behavior Support Plans in engaging and innovative ways. Instructors teach students about positive behavior comparable to any other school subject like science, math or history. Lesson takeaways are meant to extend throughout a student’s day – from their classes to lunchtime, and even on the school bus or during after-school activities. The framework aims to help students develop these valuable life skills for their academic career and beyond.
All schools in Sarasota County have PBIS plans; however, the following 18 schools are the latest to be recognized using the PBIS framework. Please join us in congratulating our 2019-20 PBIS Model Schools:
