District Announces Principal for Southside Elementary School

SARASOTA COUNTY, March 10, 2022 – Sarasota County Schools is pleased to announce that Mrs. Jamie Hannon has been selected to serve as the Principal of Southside Elementary School, effective immediately. Mrs. Hannon had been serving as the school’s interim Principal since July 2021.

“Mrs. Hannon has made a tangible impact on the Southside community in her time as Interim Principal,” noted Dr. Brandon Johnson, executive director of Elementary Schools. “We know the enriching, student-focused culture of the school will continue to deepen & flourish under her permanent leadership.”

“I am humbled to serve as the new Principal of Southside Elementary School,” said Hannon. “We have had a great year so far, and I am truly excited to see our community grow even closer as we finish out the reaming days of school. I look forward to all the memories and milestones ahead with the amazing Southside family!”

Mrs. Jamie Hannon received her bachelor’s degree in Visual Disabilities (Cum Laude) from Florida State University. She has a master’s degree in Special Education from Florida State University and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership from the American College of Education.

Before starting her most recent role as the Interim Principal of Southside Elementary School, Mrs. Hannon served as the Assistant Principal of Fruitville Elementary School. She has also served as an Assistant Principal Intern at Phillippi Shores Elementary School, an ESE Liaison at Gulf Gate Elementary School, an Itinerant Teacher of the Visually Impaired through the school district’s Pupil Support Services department, and an Orientation and Mobility Specialist through Pupil Support Services.
