CDC’s Tips for Thanksgiving & DOH COVID-19 Testing Locations
November 24, 2020
As we approach the Thanksgiving break, please keep in mind the following tips & best practices from the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) to help your family have a safe and healthy holiday.
- As cases of COVID-19 continue to increase rapidly across the United States, the safest way to celebrate Thanksgiving is to celebrate at home with the people you live with.
- Travel may increase your chance of getting and spreading COVID-19. Postponing travel and staying home is the best way to protect yourself and others this year.
- If you will be hosting a gathering during the holiday season that brings people who live in different households together, follow CDC tips for hosting gatherings. If you will be attending a gathering that someone else is hosting, follow CDC Considerations for Events and Gatherings.

If you are experiencing symptoms that are similar to the indicators of COVID-19, please consider seeking medical attention. Please remember the Florida Department of Health in Sarasota (DOH-Sarasota), in partnership with Sarasota County Schools (SCS), is offering PCR testing for symptomatic staff or students. In certain situations, family members of staff or students may be eligible for testing. This testing is available by appointment only.
Please note: DOH-Sarasota/SCS testing sites in North Port, Osprey, and Sarasota – at 2200 Ringling Blvd. – will suspend operations on Thursday, November 26th (Thanksgiving Day) and Friday, November 27th. Normal testing operations will resume on Monday, November 30th.
