District Announces 2023 School-Related Employees of the Year
Sarasota County, FL, March 3, 2023 – Sarasota County Schools is proud to announce that Jenn Greenan has been selected as the district’s overall 2023 School-Related Employee of the Year. Mrs. Greenan serves as the Administrative Assistant to the Principal of Brentwood Elementary School.

In Our Classrooms: K-8 Schools
Sarasota County Schools is doubling down on the K-8 model school, which combines the elementary and middle school grades on one campus. There's only one campus like it in the district, but SCS plans to build two more in the next few years. We traveled to Laurel Nokomis School to learn more about the benefits of this kind of school.

Dr. Allison Foster Named Interim Superintendent of Sarasota County Schools
Sarasota County, FL, February 8, 2023 – During its 6:00 p.m. meeting on Tuesday, February 7, 2023, the Sarasota County School Board voted 5:0 to appoint the district’s Executive Director of Human Resources and Labor Relations – Dr. Allison Foster – as Interim Superintendent.

Garden Elementary School’s Timothy Ferguson named district’s 2023 Teacher of the Year
Timothy Ferguson, a music teacher at Garden Elementary School, was named the 2023 Sarasota County Teacher of the Year at the Ignite Education Teacher of the Year Award Celebration hosted by the Education Foundation of Sarasota County.

Sarasota County Schools Announces Graduation Rate
Sarasota County, FL, January 13, 2023 – The Florida Department of Education reported today that the graduation rate for Sarasota County Schools for 2021-22 was 88.9 percent, a slight decline from the prior year. The district remained well above the state graduation rate of 87.3 percent; the state graduation rate decreased by 2.8 percentage points over last year.
