Welcome to the 2019-2020 school year! We share a common vision of high expectations for quality classroom instruction, students who are motivated to learn, and a supportive and encouraging community that makes our school a wonderful place to learn and work. During each child’s educational journey, students learn to read, write, and compute at successful levels that enable them to experience academic achievement at the next level and beyond. To ensure success, we are dedicated to using research-based instructional practices and a specialized curriculum designed to integrate technology throughout each learning experience.

The teachers and staff are dedicated to providing the very best education for every child. Our objective is to deliver challenging academic programs that strengthen specific learning needs and promote life-long learning. We are constantly reviewing standards, keeping up with important educational research, and analyzing data to make sure every child is successful.

Alta Vista is proud to be a Community of Caring school. The program is built around the five core values of Caring, Respect, Responsibility, Trust, and Family, which empower individuals to be responsible and caring members of a community. These five values serve as a foundation and umbrella for activities and initiatives in our school. As a Community of Caring school, our students have embraced these values throughout their school day: in the classroom, hallway, cafeteria, and playing field. In doing so, we put children, teachers, and staff at the center of education, weaving the core values into every aspect of school life and the existing curriculum.

The most successful students are those whose parents are involved in their education. These students tend to earn better grades, score higher on standardized tests, have better attendance records and show a more positive attitude toward school. We appreciate our partnership with you and need you to get involved in your child’s education. Effective involvement happens when parents have access to information and resources that encourage children to succeed. Be sure to connect with your child’s teacher so you understand expectations for learning and academic achievement. Our Parent University provides workshops that focus on strengthening parenting skills, promoting successful student achievement, and adult career and vocational classes. Be sure to stop by the Eagle’s Nest Volunteer and Parent Resource Center to learn how you can volunteer and support activities to ensure your child has a great school experience.
