Alternative Education

The Office of Academic Intervention Programs works with schools and staff to provide support for Sarasota County students and families on a broad range of programs to support the learner towards continued success.  Students may be referred to an alternative education program after other interventions have been utilized in order to remedy habitually disruptive behaviors, behaviors that interfere with learning or behaviors that pose a serious threat to health and safety. A student may also be directly referred to alternative education programs as an alternative to expulsion from school. Please refer to the Code of Student Conduct, section 300.20b, 300.20c, 300.20d for detailed information regarding Expulsion, Second Change Agreements and Settlement Agreements.
