Venice High School is a community-oriented school that boasts a student body of more than 2000 students with a 70-acre campus located on the island of Venice.       

Featured programs include Career Technical Education: PC Support, Health Options, Digital Design, Early Childhood, Culinary Arts, Engineering and Business Entrepreneurial pathways. In addition, VHS offers an extensive array of college- credit courses with more than 1300 enrollments in Advanced Placement and Dual Enrollment courses. Both the Performing and Visual Arts programs are recognized for their excellence and are an integral part of our community. The MCJROTC program is a vital and well-respected part of our school and cadets demonstrate leadership throughout the area. Of course, all students are encouraged to be involved with more than 40 clubs available to choose.  

Venice High School offers the International Baccalaureate (IB) Program which is an academically focused curriculum for students ages sixteen to eighteen (grades 11 and 12) preparing to enter university. For students planning to enter most European and Commonwealth universities, the IB Diploma is usually the only guarantee for university admission available to international students. For American universities, successful participation in IB courses can promote university acceptance, while successful completion of IB exams can lead to university course credit and/or advanced university placement. The IB program is structured to accommodate every motivated, sincere and serious student.

Unique to Venice High School is the Rotary Futures Program which assists students with postsecondary planning, college applications, and scholarship acquisition.   This program has obtained millions of scholarship dollars for our seniors.      

A point of pride is the annual Literacy Celebration which is held in January in partnership with the Gulf Coast Foundation of Venice.  Noted authors and Pulitzer Prize winners Tim O’Brien, Rich Bragg, and Alice Hoffman are among the featured guests.  These authors conduct student presentations and workshops prior to the evening event. 

Venice High School has an Executive Internship program that supplements the existing curriculum by providing community internships.  It is a practical introduction to the work environment through direct contact with professions in our community.  Students apply textbook learning, leadership skills, and understanding of the challenging and creative professional areas.  

VHS has more than 65 community mentors/employers including Medical doctors, nursing, veterinarians, radiology, engineering, a variety of businesses, accounting, culinary, tourism and many more.  

Venice High School is also a leader on the cutting edge of technology and uses over 700 state-of-the-art TI-Nspire CX and CX CAS calculators in more than 20 science and math classrooms. The technology, manufactured by Texas Instruments, provides for instant feedback from both students and teachers.  Sensors for data collection and other accessories are tailored to each STEM class, and teachers, therefore, have a wide array of applicability for the calculator’s use.  The school also boasts TI-Nspire trainers, who hold seminars on this exciting new tool throughout the county.
