Career Technical Education Programs

Animation/gaming/simulation*
Grades 9-10: Introduction To The Disciplines Of Game Development And 3-D Animation
Students will practice equal amounts of Art and Programming to provide them a solid foundation.
Students will learn Technical Skills; 3-D Modeling, Concept Art, Game Design, and Animation.Students will work together collaboratively in Indie Studios to create and develop multi-faceted projects to industry standards for Animation, Gaming, and Simulation.
Grades 11-12: Expands Upon The Disciplines Of Game Development And 3-D Animation
Students will master specialty disciplines within Game Design & Animation.
Utilize Next Gen software and technology equipment Seniors will have the opportunity to create, develop, and present an AGS Capstone project to community and industry leaders.
Seniors will create, develop, and present AGS Capstone Project.
Business/entrepreneurship*
This unique Business Pathway will prepare students for a wide range of Business career opportunities.
Students will learn foundational concepts and knowledge in entrepreneurship and small business management including planning for, starting and operating a business; marketing and sales; financials and purchasing. Students will get real world experiences through our Internship Program, as part of their capstone project during their senior year.
Medical Pathway *
Our Medical Pathway will begin in 9-10th grade with Biomedical Science courses designed through
"Project Lead The Way" curriculum. This unique curriculum is designed for students interested in the Medical field as a career. Project Lead the Way offers a sequence of courses that provides coherent and rigorous content aligned with challenging academic standards, relevant technical knowledge, and skills needed to prepare for further education and careers in the Health Science career cluster. Our vision for the Medical Pathway is our SPHS students may choose to apply for the Patient Care Technician Program in 11-12th grade or choose to focus on academics through the AP Capstone Diploma Program for College preparation.
Acceleration Option (AO)
Students at SPHS also have an option to enroll in an accelerated pathway in both CTE and academic coursework to graduate high school in 3 or 3 1/2 years. The Acceleration Option has a prescribed course sequence for students that can allow them to graduate with a Florida CTE High School Diploma or Florida Standard Diploma. Students wishing to directly enter the workforce or enroll in a Technical College like STC, may pursue the Florida CTE High School Diploma. College Preparatory (CP)
The CP pathway is designed for students who intend to enroll in a four year college/university upon graduation. The CP pathway allows for students to maximize their focus on academic courses that will prepare them for college and earn college credits in the process. Students in the CP pathway are enrolled in AP coursework as freshman and must earn a 3 or higher on the exam in order to remain in the CP pathway. CP pathway allows for students to tailor their schedules and course selections to reflect their interest and individual goals. Students may also have the option to participate in Dual Enrollment with SCF or US as well.
