Program Overview

Web Application Development and Programming at STC will give you the skills needed to enter the workforce as a Junior Web Developer, Front-End Developer, Back-End Developer, Full-Stack Developer, or Web Applications Technician. Throughout the program, you will develop strong problem-solving and creative thinking skills—critical for success in today’s modern web-driven industry. You will learn how to design, build, and deploy interactive, database-driven websites and applications using current web technologies. If you’re excited about creating modern web experiences and pursuing a career in web development, this is the program for you!

What to Expect:

  • Develop strong problem-solving and logical thinking skills used in real web development.

  • Build foundational and advanced skills in data structures and algorithms, ranging from decision-making and looping constructs to arrays, lists, dictionaries, JSON, APIs, and other data-handling techniques.

  • Gain hands-on experience with full-stack development—creating functional, sophisticated web applications and utilizing object-oriented programming concepts.

  • Build responsive, user-friendly websites and web applications.

  • Learn HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and key front-end tools.

  • Explore modern web technologies and frameworks commonly used in industry (e.g., HTML, CSS, JavaScript, and ASP.NET tools).

  • Create dynamic, database-driven web apps using ASP.NET and C#, JavaScript, etc.

  • Work with PHP, data storage, APIs, and server-side processing.

  • Understand how to plan, design, test, and deploy web applications.

  • Explore UI/UX concepts to create visually appealing web interfaces.

  • Learn object-oriented principles that make code efficient and reusable.

  • Gain experience with multi-tier application design and web services.

  • Connect to real databases, retrieve and display information, and build functional features.

NOTE: Students accepted into a Business Program who have passed either course DIT OR EBT, AND earned the Microsoft 2019 (or more recent) Bundle Certification, to include Word, PowerPoint, and Excel, OR Test Out Certification Exam may be considered for exemption of course OTA0040 and move directly into the next course in sequence. Microsoft bundle certifications on versions prior to 2019 will NOT allow a student to be eligible for opting out of course OTA0040.
