6.521 Effective Date for Leave Suspension or Termination

The effective date of any employment termination shall be the last day on which a school board appointed employee is compensated within that employee's scheduled work year. The effective date of any unpaid leave of absence shall be the first day on which a school board appointed employee is not compensated within that employee's scheduled work year. The effective date of any suspension or paid leave of absence shall be the first day on which a school board employee does not work.

I. The following provisions apply to paid benefits for a holiday(s):

A. An employee who terminates employment and does not work on the first day following a holiday(s) shall not receive pay for the holiday(s). The termination date shall be considered the last work day on which the employee is paid prior to the holiday(s).

B. An employee will not earn holiday pay if they are on a board-approved unpaid leave of absence at the time of the paid holiday or they are in an unpaid status for the entire pay period encompassing the holiday.
