4.50 Student Clubs and Organizations

I. All school sponsored clubs and organizations shall be approved by the principal before they can operate within a school. An instructional staff member or other person approved by the principal shall serve as a sponsor or advisor to each club or organization.

II. Any school club or organization which engages in an initiation ceremony for its members shall prepare and submit the program of initiation exercises to the faculty sponsor for review and approval by the school principal.

III. Secret societies, social clubs, sororities, fraternities, or any similar organizations are prohibited.

Any activities that constitute hazing or are discriminatory or disrespectful are prohibited.

IV. The School Board seeks to provide an educational environment free of discrimination and harassment on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, disability, marital status, or sexual orientation. No student must tolerate such discrimination or harassment. Any activities that are discriminatory or disrespectful are prohibited.
