The School Board, in accordance with state law, will operate the School District of Sarasota County in accordance with a long-range comprehensive plan. The plan will set forth goals and objectives for progress in all areas of district operations and outline steps to be taken for their achievement.

I. As part of the comprehensive plan for the school system, the School Board will approve long-range goals and objectives to serve as a guide for planning on an annual basis in all areas of operations: instructional programs and student achievement; finances and budgeting; school facilities and support services; staffing and personnel administration; school and community relations.

II. The Board shall review annually and the Superintendent is directed to assure that the District’s Strategic Plan is kept updated as needed. The Superintendent and Staff shall use the Strategic Plan as a major emphasis in planning for all operations within the District.

III. As a part of its accountability, the Board will hold its administrative officers and staff accountable for their responsibilities in the school system. In addition, all staff members will be held accountable for carrying out their roles in the District’s Comprehensive Plan and Strategic Plan.
