Community Involvement Overview
The Office of Community Involvement coordinates volunteers and partners in education for Sarasota County Schools. We are currently going through the process of revitalizing our systems and procedures, so please bear with us through the remainder of the school year.
For more information on how to get involved in our schools, please take a look at the tabs titled “Level 1 Volunteering,” “Level 2 Volunteering,” and “Partners in Education.” If you are unsure which one to select, please see below for more information.
Level 1 – Level 1 is the starting point for all volunteering. You must be Level 1 approved before you can be Level 2 approved. With a Level 1 clearance, you must stay within eye and earshot of a school faculty member or teacher at all times.
Level 2 – Level 2 is the next step up for volunteer clearance. This clearance permits you to be alone with students for volunteering purposes. This is also a common clearance needed to chaperone field trips and mentor. To get a Level 2 clearance, you must be fingerprinted by the district’s Safety and Security Department.
Partners in Education – Partners in Education are businesses, organizations, or individuals that want to give back to our schools in ways other than volunteering (they can volunteer too!). This can be in-kind or monetary donations, adopting classrooms, event assistance, etc.
