Dear Families,

Welcome back to another school year! On behalf of our faculty and staff, we wish you a positive and successful experience at Sarasota Middle. As your leader, my goal is to serve your children and support you with a caring heart and listening ear. I will continue to help cultivate a warm and welcoming culture and an environment of academic excellence and high expectations at Sarasota Middle School. You will see evidence of this in our Panther Pact and our Positive Behavior support system and incentives. It is also evident in the academic opportunities offered, behavioral expectations, and our day-to-day systems and procedures. We are an A-Rated school again this year, which is a remarkable achievement! Sarasota Middle’s enduring academic success is a direct result of the quality of the teaching staff and the preparedness of the students.

We look forward to working with all of you and encourage you to consider how you can be engaged in, and partner with the school. We have varying opportunities for parents to participate in their child’s middle school experience - and want you to know that even though they are older, they still want and need you to be present and involved. We have a strong and dedicated Parent Teacher Student Organization (PTSO) which is involved throughout the year in school-wide improvement projects, including academic and enrichment support for teachers and students, that we hope you will consider joining.

As we begin the new year, my goal is to maintain clear, collaborative, and transparent communication with Sarasota Middle families and community members to collectively meet the needs of the school and chart a successful path for all. I will send a weekly newsletter with important school information each weekend, so please take the time to read it. You must grant email permissions in the Family Access Portal. If your friends are telling you they aren't receiving phone calls and my newsletters, please help them stay informed by sharing how you granted your permissions through the portal.
