Hello fellow Tuttle Turtles! I am Mrs. Leah Jurado. I love teaching first grade here at Tuttle! I have taught Kindergarten, 1st and 2nd grade in my six years of teaching after graduating from the University of South Florida. I love my two preschool age kids, two big black lab dogs, and my Filipino husband, Mr. Jurado. When I'm not teaching, I am enjoying my kids, gardening, and trying new dairy and gluten free recipes. We'll make this a great year!
Hi Tuttle Turtles! My name is Miss Lemke and I am a first grade teacher here at Tuttle Elementary. This will be my third year at this fabulous school, and I love it more and more each day. I grew up in Sarasota and I am a graduate of University of South Florida, Sarasota-Manatee. I plan on going back to college within the next few years for my Masters in Curriculum Design. I am so fascinated with the different ways students learn to read, and I want to further my education to be the best teacher I can be. When I am not teaching, I love being outdoors. I spend a lot of time at the beautiful beaches here in Sarasota and enjoy taking walks along the Ringling Bridge at sunset. If you have ever been in my classroom, you can probably guess that my donuts are my favorite food! I also enjoy spending my nights watching a good show on Netflix and snuggling with my cat, Rory.
I was born and raised in Sarasota, Fl. Family means the world to me and love that mine live nearby. I absolutely love to travel to the mountains and go hiking to different waterfalls. I’m a huge sports fanatic, especially for the Tampa Bay Lightning! GO BOLTS! I love nature and animals; I have a dog and a horse. This is my 13th year teaching and my 7th year at Tuttle. I love teaching first grade!
My name is Heather Dunn. I was born and raised in Sarasota. I went to Fruitville Elementary, McIntosh Middle, and Sarasota High. I went on to Manatee Community College and received my Associates Degree. Then went on to the University of Florida and received my Masters in Elementary Education. This is my 9th year teaching and all of those years have been at Tuttle.
I am married, my husband is the principal at Tatum Ridge Elementary, and we have 3 kids. Austin is 13 in 8th grade, Emma is 11 in 6th grade, and Maggie is 9 in 4th grade. I love Disney and to sing. You can find me listening to my son play the drums or piano or watching my girls dance.
My name is Susan Leckrone. I grew up in Ohio, but I knew I wanted to live in Florida since we often camped in the Florida Keys. I have always loved to travel, so I moved to Florida, became a travel agent, and traveled all over the world. Later, I got into marketing and sales, when I was offered an opportunity to help start a new computer company that specialized in automated time and attendance, and later invented the first automated checkout for grocery stores. I also worked in sales at our local TV station, WWSB-TV. Another fun opportunity was working at Tervis Tumbler when I managed the Golf Division and supervised 40+ sales reps throughout the country, which also provided further opportunities for travel. Finally, after many years in sales, I went back to college to become a teacher. I am a summa cum laude graduate from the University of South Florida with a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Gifted Education. I am an experienced teacher, having taught pre-school, kindergarten, first, second, third, and fourth grades. My favorite grade level is First Grade! When I was younger, I played saxophone, oboe, and piano. These days, one of my favorite activities is listening to music and attending concerts of all kinds. I also enjoy spending time with my fur babies: A Shi Tzu named Mojo, a Yorkie named Maddie, and a teddy bear Poodle named Megan. We spend a lot of time in my beautiful backyard where I grow my favorite flower – Orchids!
I have been teaching at Tuttle Elementary for 15 years. And I love it!
