    Leslye Jaramillo

Hi, my name is Leslye Jaramillo and I am originally from New York City, but I have lived in FL since I was 11 years old. I have worked with children since my senior year at Booker High school during my dual enrollment at SCTI in their Early Childhood Education program.  I graduated with my Associate's Degree in Early Childhood Education in 2008.  I absolutely love working with children and in my 10 years of teaching, I have worked with children ranging from 6 weeks to 5 years old. A few things about me are that I enjoy traveling, taking pictures, and learning new things to diversify my knowledge.

In 2012 I had my wonderful son Alex and took some time to be with him while going to school to completing my Associate's Degree in Medical Assisting.  After receiving my degree in 2013, I decided to apply my newly acquired skills and move into the medical field for a few years.  I found that while I enjoyed the interaction, caring for, and helping people in the medical field, I really missed the creative aspect of teaching children and seeing them grow and learn.  With that in mind, I decided to move back into the early childhood education field this year and I am super excited about this school year and to be part of the Pre-K Team here at Tuttle Elementary School!

Teaching has always been my passion. From the very moment that I stepped into my first classroom; I knew that I had chosen an amazing career path. This will be my 19th year working with preschoolers, and I have loved every moment that I have spent with my students over this time.

I graduated from the State College of Florida with a degree in Early Childhood Education. I am originally from the Philippines; I moved to both the United States and Florida in 1997. I share three wonderful children with my loving husband of 24 years. My daughter is currently in her Junior year of college in pursue of her own teaching degree. Besides teaching, I also enjoy gardening, reading, and spending time with my 9 years-old son.

My philosophy for learning is that each child is unique, and learn in their own individual way. As a teacher, it is my job to help each child discover his or her own individual learning-style, and work alongside them to maximize their understanding and creativity. I promote hands-on learning experiences, creative learning, and learning through play. In my classroom, I try to create a comfortable and healthy learning environment for my students; as well as build a trusting relationship with them. I am looking forward to this upcoming year with my new students, and hope that it will be filled with learning and fun!
