Message from Mrs. Fusco Concerning Scheduling
"Hello and welcome to the North Port High School Bobcat team. I’m Mrs. Fusco, the Assistant Principal of Curriculum, and on behalf of all our team, we’re excited to share this information regarding how you will be scheduling for your freshman year at NPHS. There’s a video of this information on the NPHS Facebook page for you to see as well. We have six school counselors, but you will work with one of a team of four next year. If you choose to apply and are accepted to the Cambridge AICE diploma program, your counselor will be Christine McKay. Overseeing that program is Ann Brandenberger, and she has a video link on our registration site as. Nichelle Brown, Brittany McKeith, and Jessica Rutherford will be the counselors for all other students. If you have an IEP, you will also work with Mrs. Vicky O’Gorman or Tish Temple.
Starting the week of April 13, we will have scheduling information available to rising 9th and 10th grade students. You can find this video available on the NPHS Facebook page, but all information can be found on Blackboard at Guidance Department-NPHS.
9th Grade Scheduling Process:
- Go onto the internet and search for MYSCS, which will bring you to the option to select MYSCS – SARASOTA COUNTY SCHOOLS
- Login to MYSCS using the student n# as the login an pin as the password
- Find the tile that says Blackboard Learn on My Home…it might be in another area like instruction or productivity if not used at all
- Click on Blackboard Tile
- In the upper left corner of Blackboard find the search for course area…type in Guidance Department – NPHS
- When the class pulls up there will be an grey down arrow just to the right of the title of the course Guidance Department – NPHS
- Click on down arrow and click register/enroll
- Your student is now registered for the course and can click on the name under my courses to access the information.
- Follow instructions on scheduling
If you will be trying out for VPA (Visual and Performing Arts) classes, you will want to email those teachers directly. Their emails are on the registration sheet.
If you have questions about scheduling, you can email the counselors as well. Contact information is located on the Blackboard page and for all staff on the front page of the NPHS Website under announcements.
We’d really like to have all schedule requests completed by April 27th. After that time, we will begin entering everything into the system.
We know that for some families, computer access is not accessible. If that is the case, but you are able to email a counselor, we can call you to go through the process. If you are not able to do that, please don’t worry. The base schedule will be input for you, and you will be able to book an appointment in May so that we can answer any questions. April is reserved for appointments for rising sophomores.
Just as a reminder, all contact information for staff is on the NPHS website, so if you have questions about specific programs, you can reach out now with questions.
I’m looking forward to meeting everyone, but in the meantime, just remember we for all of us...
North Port Works: North Port Wins!
Finish strong, and we’ll see you soon!
Sincerely,
Shannon D. Fusco, Assistant Principal of Curriculum
