  • What is school concurrency?

    Posted by:

Concurrency, in general, is a process by which a local government ensures that public services [e.g., roads, utilities, parks, libraries] will be adequate to meet the demands of new development; if not, the developer may be required to pay for the expansion of services. In 2005 the Florida Legislature mandated that public schools be included according to a schedule monitored by the Florida Department of Community Affairs [DCA]. School concurrency must be in effect throughout our county by October 2008.
