Mr. John Weida
As Principal, I would like to welcome each and every one of you to Brentwood Elementary School. Brentwood is a neighborhood school and is the home of the “Superstars.” Our superstar pride begins with our hard-working students, staff, parents, and community. We are a school community with a focus on academic excellence, character development, healthy living, and community involvement. Here at Brentwood we have incorporated Thinking Maps in our learning, embraced the Community of Caring philosophy to develop our character, sustained one of the largest run clubs in the county to promote a healthy lifestyle, and involved our community in multiple avenues through our PTO, which was recognized with the State of Florida Award for 2012 Parent Involvement, Innovative Project of the Year.
There are many exciting things happening this year at Brentwood. We are excited to announce that we have added movement and dance to our PE program. Students will have the opportunity to experience dance from Hip Hop to Ballet. We are excited to start our new writing program. This year we will be working with Thinking Maps and Write from the Beginning and Beyond. And of course, we all are working hard to understand and implement Common Core State Standards. As the year goes on you will be learning more about what is happening here at Brentwood.
We are so proud of all that we do here at Brentwood. Welcome back to all of our Superstar families. If you are not currently part of the Brentwood family, come by and take a look; you just might be the next Superstar!
