General
Music Program
Students in K-5 attend general music classes
on a rotating schedule. The general music program uses
the most current Silver Burdett textbooks. The music
program is correlated with the Sunshine State Standards and
the National Standards for Music. Students sing, compose
and play music using the Orff-Schulwerk technique.
General music classes have performed original and adapted
musicals for the Sarasota Reading Festival. One of the
musicals that the students wrote and composed was based on the
children's book, Mr. Popper's Penguins, and was featured at a
state conference in Orlando. General music classes
participate in various school wide shows including the Holiday
Program, the Kindergarten Hoe Down.
