E.S.E. GOALS AND
SERVICES
All students can learn but may not learn in the same way. We recognize the need to provide special services for students that may require a more supportive environment to successfully complete high school and move on into the real world. As a caring, professional staff we seek to provide these special services to all our students.
The purpose of the ESE Dept. is to
provide our high school students with the necessary skills and
education to become successful and productive citizens after they
graduate. A student-centered team consisting of the student,
parents/guardians, teachers, ESE Liaison, Transition Planner,
counselors, and additional support personnel, as required, decide on
the special accommodations necessary to meet the unique academic and
social needs of the students of the student. These special services
include:
Individual education plans (IEP's) that address the student's
unique needs.
Inclusion in regular education classes to the degree specifed on
the IEP and collaboration with teachers to make neccessary
accommodations.
Transition Services to provide successful movement from high
school to adult living including post-seondary training, job
placement, and establishment of interagency linkages.
Job placement/coaching to secure, develop, and maintain job skills
and positions.
SCTI testing, shadowing, and coordination to enroll and support
students at the Sarasota County Technical Institute.
Speech and Language Therapy to assist students in developing
necessary language skills to be successful after high school.
Community-Based Instruction that provides opportunities for
students to learn and practice job skills, daily living, and
social/personal skills.
Counseling services from various agencies and from VHS staff.
