“Principal” Points of interest - Mrs. Sharon Marks

A special welcome to all members, new and old, of our Southside learning community. We are an educational tradition in Sarasota that has continued for 80+ years. While we take pride in our past accomplishments, we start every year with a focus on future successes. Thank you for a great start to the 2008-2009 school year! Your support and encouragement for your children and their teachers will make for a successful school year.

Please note that after this first printed edition, all newsletter information will be posted on our school website at http://www.sarasota.k12.fl.us/southside. Events for the school and the PTA will be posted on the calendar. When an event is underlined on the calendar, please click on this link for additional information such as locations and details.

Our PTA will be updating the Parents/Community link with specifics of the current PTA initiatives. Take special note of the lists of Southside's Business Partners, C.A.R.E. sponsors and Panther Partners. If you frequent a business that supports our school, be sure to say you are from Southside and offer a thank you for the sponsorship.

Please join me in welcoming our new PTA President, Kelly Quigley. She has relentlessly been recruiting for committees so that our Southside PTA can sponsor all the great programs for our students. In these times of budget cuts, support from our PTA is even more welcomed and needed.

I look forward to our shared commitment to continue the excellence here at Southside which is truly a learning community.

Sharon R. Marks, Principal
