The tables below provide a district summary of students tested, mean
Scale Scores, mean Developmental Scale Scores, and the percentage of
students scoring in each achievement level in each grade for 2001, 2002,
and 2003.
Reading and mathematics are assessed in grades 3 through 10. There
are five categories of achievement that describe the success students
have with the content tested on the FCAT reading and mathematics. Level
5 is the highest, and level 1 is the lowest. Levels 3 and above are
considered on or above grade level.
Writing is assessed in grades 4, 8 and 10. Writing Combined Mean
Scores are derived from mean scores for each type of writing prompt.
There are two types of prompts depending on grade. Grade 4 writes either
an on-demand expository or narrative essay, whereas Grades 8 and 10
respond to an expository or persuasive writing prompt. The Writing
Combined Mean is the average score for both types of writing.
